Hey friends! So we love day trips around here. I am pretty sure that I have mentioned this before and you will definitely be seeing little bits of our adventures on Instagram. This past week, we did a last minute trip to Sutter Creek which is located in Amador County in Northern California. It is a 40-minute drive from our house which makes it an easy day trip. I had heard of a yummy breakfast spot and I love walking around historic towns so off we went. I am easily motivated by food. #noshame
Here are a few photos that capture the history of this cute little town located off of Highway 49.
Hotel Sutter is the cutest hotel. We stayed there a couple of summers ago. They have a bar and a great restaurant so it’s a perfect all in one getaway destination. I had to get this shot with the super cool old car in front. Picture perfect, right?
We kicked off our little day date by popping into Andrae’s for an iced coffee. Cause you know, my day can not officially start without an iced coffee with vanilla + milk. Really. It can’t. I am a much nicer person once I have had my morning java. Always iced. Andrae’s is an amazing local bakery in nearby Amador City. They make their own pastries and bread which often end up at local wineries and restaurants. And scones. They have scones. Scones are my ultimate baked goods weakness. No joke. I never make my own scones but I have to have them at a bakery. They also have cheese and other goodies if you want to put together a quick picnic lunch. We even grabbed a loaf of bread to have with our dinner that night.
Once I had my iced coffee in hand, we headed over to Element for breakfast. Element is actually part of the Hanford House Inn which looks like a perfect little getaway spot. It is pretty modern and looks like it was recently remodeled. Breakfast was so good. We shared a sweet and savory dish so that we could have the best of both worlds. The Apple Fritter Waffle was the perfect sweet treat and so unique. It was especially perfect this time of year since apples are in season. We were told by a local that Buffalo Chips is also a great breakfast spot. I see another day trip in our near future.
After breakfast, we walked around a bit and just enjoyed the cute little shops on main street. We popped into Water Street Antiques and of course stopped in at my favorite store, The Antique Gardener. Afterward, we headed over to the Water Street Antiques main warehouse over in Martell.
Oh, my favorite pic of the day has to be this one. I had to crack a lot of jokes to capture this smile but I think I succeeded. I will be framing this photo for sure! It really does capture what the day was all about. Day date! This guy really does encourage me A LOT. He helps me make my projects come to life. He puts up with my grumpiness. He laughs at my silliness. He loves me unconditionally. I feel pretty damn lucky.
This was a scenic and easy drive for us and had us back home in time to pick up our kids from school. I really love day dates and day trippin’. It’s a great way to reconnect and if you are feeling like a recharge, a solo day trip is never a bad thing! Are you a day tripper??
